The abandoned five years computer laboratory at Sefwi Subri, a community in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality of the Western north region, has really altered the pupils’ studies, especially in this generation of computer age.
Speaking to some teachers on anonymity, they unveiled the laboratory was provided by Kinross Chirano Gold Mines Ltd some years back, but the authorities have deserted it since thieves broke into it and made away some part of the computers.
‘‘The computer laboratory was built by Kinross Chirano gold mines limited to support the pupils in ICT but the authorities perhaps the community have abandoned it some five years ago, whilst thieves broke into it and made away some parts of the computers ’’, some teacher said.
In addition, they reported that no one has sought to rehabilitate it for the pupils who are invariably amenable to learn and compete with the world.
‘‘’Our children do not know computer mouse or cable, but they will write exams in ICT. This is certainly unfortunate’’.
‘‘None of the authorities being it MCE, MP, Education director or whatever has stepped a toe here, but they are all aware of the situation of the laboratory, however these pupils who do not know what a computer mouse is will compete with their peers in their final exams, its very painful, we need government intervention’’, the report unfolded.
More to the record, some committee members declared the Member of Parliament has never solicited to bolster the community since he won the seat with massive votes from the community members and delegates.
‘‘We canvassed to vote for the MP, Hon Alfred Obeng Boateng, but after he won, he has never come here nor pick our calls. He has even forgotten a community called Subri where he came pleading and knelt in front us for votes during the election time, honestly we are disappointed in him for failing us’’, they asserted.
